John Robinson - President

John Robinson is a prominent lawyer and business and legal affairs consultant in the Canadian film and television industry. After private practice focusing on entertainment law, he joined Alliance Communications in 1986, where he was the head of Business and Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary until 1997. He joined Fireworks Entertainment Corporation in that year as Senior Vice-president Business and Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary, where he remained until 2001, at which time he formed Resonance Entertainment Corporation, providing business affairs consulting and legal services to the production community. He is very active in industry affairs, having served on the Board of Directors, the Labour Relations Committee, Tax and Finance Committee, and as Chairman of the Lender's Sub-committee of the Canadian Film and Television Production Association, as well as Vice-President of the Canadian Retransmission Collective. During the last seventeen years, he has frequently been the chairman of the producers' negotiating committees in both WGC and ACTRA negotiations, and has sat on numerous committees of the CFTPA and on the Board of Directors of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television.
